Narrow Water Keep (on the main dual carriageway from Warrenpoint to Newry) was built around 1568 as a defensive military look out!

The site has always been of significant importance to travellers and invaders alike as it is located at narrowest point to cross the water.

The Normans under the command of Hugh DeLacy had a military installation at the Narrow Water Keep location
